What you are paying for

Software vendors price the same product five incompatible ways: per named user, per active user, per contact, as a percentage of volume, or not publicly at all. Our guides read each vendor's own pricing page and record the date we read it. The Rate Desk puts every one of those readings in one table you can filter, sort and export, and gives you the arithmetic to convert a quote you have been sent into a number you can put next to the others.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to pay to read the guides? No. All 136 guides are free, with no account and no paywall. The plans buy the desk, not the writing.

Where do the rates come from? Each one is read off the vendor's own published pricing page, and the desk shows the date we read it. Where a vendor publishes nothing, the desk says so, because that is an answer a buyer needs too.

Is there a free plan? There is a one-off demo instead. Confirm your email and you get one category of the desk and one quote comparison, once. It does not renew and it is not a plan.

What counts as a comparison? One run of the quote arithmetic: one vendor quote turned into a cost per user per month, a year-one total and a steady-state total, set against the published rates in that category. The allowance resets with each billing period.

Can I change or cancel? Yes, in the billing portal, at any time. Access runs to the end of the period you have paid for.

Do you take money from vendors? No. No vendor pays for coverage, for placement or for a rate to be listed or removed.
