Refund policy
What becomes of money paid for a Rate Desk plan, and the narrow cases in which we send a charge back. Effective October 14, 2026.
Reading our guides costs nothing. The rules below apply only to the paid Rate Desk plans, which are Desk, Team and Advisory.
How plan fees work
Every Rate Desk payment unlocks the complete table of published supplier rates straight away, together with the date each rate was checked on the supplier's own price page, CSV export and that month's quote comparisons. We reserve that access for you for the entire month or year you paid for, which is why a charged subscription fee stays with us. The short list of exceptions comes further down.
Fees we keep
- A supplier quoted you above the rate shown in our table, or your negotiation fell short.
- A supplier repriced after our last check of its rates.
- Comparisons from your monthly allowance that you never ran.
- A renewal that went through while renewal was still switched on.
- Advisory bought when Team would have covered it, or a year paid for when one month would have been enough.
- Time left in a period after cancelling or stepping down to a smaller plan.
When we pay back
Billed twice. A billing error on our end charged the same plan for the same period two times. The second charge is returned.
Charged without consent. Your card was used without your say and you tell us no more than 14 days after the payment. We look into it and pay the charge back once the evidence supports what you report.
Rate Desk down for most of a period. A failure on our servers made the rate table and comparisons unusable for the larger part of a billing period, and you flagged it while it was happening. That period is paid back.
Money is returned to the card that paid and never exceeds the price of the period concerned. To ask, send the charge date and amount to [email protected] from the email on your account, at the latest 14 days after the charge.
Switching off renewal
Renewal can be turned off in your account whenever you choose. You keep the rate table until the paid period runs out. Turning renewal off prevents the next charge only: an earlier charge stays in place and leftover days are not credited.
Renewal dates and failed cards
Each plan renews monthly or yearly until you turn renewal off, with the fee for a period falling due on its first day. When a renewal card payment is declined, our payment operator tries again over the following days; a retry that succeeds counts as a normal renewal.
Starting immediately
Paying for a plan is your request that the service begins without delay. Where a consumer can by law withdraw from a digital service contract within 14 days, that right lapses once the service has begun with the consumer's explicit consent and confirmation that they understand they lose it.
Evidence on file
We hold the time your account was opened and your order placed, a log of your account activity such as sign-ins, comparisons and exports, and the payment operator's record of the charge including its 3D Secure outcome.
Disputes through your bank
Before raising a dispute with your bank, write to us. Filing a chargeback on a payment this page covers without having contacted us breaks the conditions of your subscription and leads to the account being closed.
Purchases before this policy
Anything paid before October 14, 2026 keeps the terms that applied on the day of payment.
